Opening and registration for Rocky Mountain Childcare

Summit Community Services Society is thrilled to announce March 03, 2025, as the official opening date for the new Rocky Mountain Childcare facility in Marysville! For the first time, the spectacular building will be filled with children—laughing, learning, and playing in a space designed to foster our community’s youngest learners’ creativity, growth, and development!

The staff of Summit Community Services Society, a non-profit society dedicated to serving the communities of Kimberley and Cranbrook for the last 52 years, will eventually offer space for 148 children in various programs, such as Infants and Toddlers, children aged 3-5 (full and partial day), and an Afterschool program for school-age children. Due to the lack of Early Childhood Educators, not all programs can be opened simultaneously on opening day. Summit will continue recruitment until all programs are open and staffed appropriately. This gradual opening process will hopefully be completed by the end of 2025.
Due to funding regulations, Rocky Mountain Childcare will not qualify for $10/day funding during its first two years of operation. This means parents who secure a spot for their child must pay the government-set fees. Families will still qualify for the Childcare Fee Reduction Initiative and may apply to the Affordable Child Care Benefit program to help reduce costs.

Childcare spaces for all 7 programs will be chosen via a system-generated lottery. Parents who want to register their child or children for the lottery can do so online. The registration opens on Monday, February 10, 2025, and ends at midnight on February 14, 2025. Please go to www.summitfamily.ca and fill out the form for your child during this period only. Once sent, parents will receive an electronic confirmation of the successful registration for the lottery.
The lottery will take place on February 18, 2025. Successful families will be contacted by February 21, 2025, at the latest. The remaining names will go into a system-generated waiting list.
Parents will be contacted by following the system-generated waiting list as new spots and programs open up. If you have any questions, please get in touch with Summit’s Childcare Director, Cheryl Anderson, at childcaredirector@summitfamily.ca or 250-514-1437.
