CHILD YOUTH SPECIAL NEEDS

The Child Youth Special Needs program provides support to children and youth aged five to nineteen who have been referred by the Ministry for Children and Family Development. Issues that lead to a referral are related to social deficits, behaviour problems, or a mental handicap condition. Child Care Workers provide support while working with the child/youth in community settings to facilitate learning in the following areas:

  • socially appropriate behaviour
  • anger management and behavioural intervention
  • monitor and reduce high risk behaviour
  • life skills and integration into the community
