The objective of the Child & Youth Counselling program is to enhance the psychosocial functioning of children and youth (ages 5 – 19) through the use of individual and/or group counselling. Typically children accessing the program have encountered abuse (physical, emotional, neglect), witnessed abuse, or are being exposed to factors that impact on their emotional and/or social health. Some common issues dealt with are: *Abuse/Neglect/Witnessing Violence *Emotion Regulation *Family Dynamics Concerns *Grief/Loss and Separation *Self-esteem Concerns *Trauma Resolution Work with families and parent(s)/parental figure(s) is an important aspect of the child and youth counselling program both to address underlying issues and encourage parent(s)/parental figure(s) to follow through with supporting the child.
