CHILD & YOUTH COUNSELLING

The objective of the Child & Youth Counselling program is to enhance the psychosocial functioning of children and youth (ages 5 – 19) through the use of individual and/or group counselling.  Typically children accessing the program have encountered abuse (physical, emotional, neglect), witnessed abuse, or are being exposed to factors that impact on their emotional and/or social health.  Some common issues dealt with are:

*Abuse/Neglect/Witnessing Violence

*Emotion Regulation

*Family Dynamics Concerns

*Grief/Loss and Separation

*Self-esteem Concerns

*Trauma Resolution

Work with families and parent(s)/parental figure(s) is an important aspect of the child and youth counselling program both to address underlying issues and encourage parent(s)/parental figure(s) to follow through with supporting the child.
