COMMUNITY BASED VICTIMS SERVICES
These programs provide intervention and follow-up
counselling for individuals who have been victimized through
sexual assault, childhood sexual abuse or domestic/relationship
abuse.
The services these programs offer include:
- Coordination and cooperation with other Victim’s
Assistance programs in the community.
- Follow-up counselling to assist in the recovery
from the short and long term effects of sexual crimes and/or domestic
abuse.
- Assistance in maximizing the individual’s
ability to prevent further victimization.
- Information and referral to other community
services.
- A resource library including books, brochures,
and videotapes for self help as an adjunct to counselling.
- Emotional support and assistance with
the development of coping techniques including safety plans as
well as evaluation of further risk for victims and their children
in situations of current or recent victimization.
